Showing @ UMOCA 2022 : A Collaboration with the Student Artists of Granite School District
May 2022 | Utah Museum of Contemporary Arts
In Fall of 2019, I agreed to creatively lead a mural project involving student artists from 8 #GraniteSchoolDistrict high schools from across the #SaltLake Valley. Our show, The Sense of Community Murals, was to debut at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Arts in May of 2020. You all know how the plot line gets all tangled from there...
3 years later - I am incredibly proud of the student artists, teachers, and district art coordinators for pulling it through. We debuted the students work last Friday night to a packed house at #UMOCA, and I couldn't have been more excited to see what the student art teams had created. After 3 years of group meetings and artist visits to each at program, they really knocked it out. Please give the first image a pinch zoom and see the incredible storytelling and creativity they put into their work. Better yet, go see the show! It hangs at UMOCA for another month. To see the whole video please visit my arts website at #MonsoonArtworks. com
Thank you Granite School District, UMOCA, Noemi, the art teachers, and the students for coming together on this. Art is a medicine that transcends language, cultural and social barriers, and is all the more beautiful when it brings a community together. These sorts of projects are what have been keeping my spirits up despite the rodeo years we've all been through. #StayUpSLC

Ever surfed the Salt Palace Subway? Well it's looking a whole lot better since last summer!!
Be sure to watch this short video below to see my biggest work to date - this 300 foot mural under SLC's iconic Salt Palace - titled The Salt Palace Subway. (Along 200 West between South Temple and 100 South, SLC.) Completed from concept to finished product in just over 2 week. 6 artists, one unified idea - and community involvement helped pull this project through. Rumored to be among the biggest, if not the biggest in Utah - it's a pretty cool sight to see (and a great underpass to glide by on a skateboard or bike while you take it all in.)
